Sitting back and relaxing on the beach with a refreshing beverage in hand, the waves lapping gently and the warm sun on your skin, is one of life’s simplest pleasures. Unfortunately, you can’t be at the beach all the time, but it can taste like you are. No matter where you are, our favorite tropical-inspired beverages will take you to Puerto Rico’s beautiful shores.
Margarita
The margarita is the cocktail perhaps most synonymous with fun in the sun. The beauty of the margarita lies in its simplicity and citrusy flavor, which brings you right back to the beach, wherever you are.

- 1 ounce blanco tequila
- 1 ounce Triple sec (or other orange liqueur)
- 1 ounce lime juice
- ½ ounce simple syrup (optional, for a sweeter cocktail)
- Ice
- Coarse salt and lime wedges
Directions
- Rub the rim of a glass with a lime wedge, and dip the glass into a plate filled with coarse salt to cover the rim. Add some of the ice to the glass.
- Combine tequila, Triple sec, lime juice, simple syrup (optional), and some of the ice in a cocktail shaker. Shake and strain into a glass. Garnish with lime wedges and serve.
Piña Colada
For a cocktail that is classically Puerto Rican, look no further than the piña colada. A delicious blend of pineapple juice, cream of coconut, and rum, this cocktail will take you right to Puerto Rico’s sandy shores.

- ½ cup cream of coconut (Coco Lopez)
- 2 cups ice
Directions
