Been Thinking About Visiting Puerto Rico? Now is the Prime Time

If taking a vacation to Puerto Rico is something you’ve been considering for a while, you should know that there is no better time than the present to hop on a plane and go. That’s because right now is the prime time to visit Puerto Rico, from mid-April to June, following the busy winter season when there are many tourists and other vacationers to compete with, and right before the rainy summer season.

Weather

Spring weather in Puerto Rico is mild, with most days hitting the mid-80s. The weather is still sunny but with a nice breeze, which makes staying on the island a pleasurable experience. Generally, the rains don’t really hit until later in June, and while Puerto Rico is often in the path of hurricanes, usually those come a bit later in the season. The weather isn’t always rainy and unyielding. Just keep up on the weather reports and plan accordingly.

Peace & Quiet

Tourists have begun to leave in April, and the island is less crowded. That means you can enjoy the same activities as you would during the peak season (December to April), without having to deal with crowds. When you stay in a place like Maria’s, you’ll enjoy plenty of space and privacy no matter what time of year, but visits around Rincon will be much more enjoyable for you and your family during the “shoulder season” of April through June. While Maria’s grants you private access to the beach, not having to compete with as many other sun worshippers means you’ll be able to relax and enjoy swimming and sunbathing, or water sports like paddle boarding and surfing.

Another thing to consider – enjoying the local flavor. Shops and restaurants that rely on the tourist trade often close down for a while during the off-season. This means that while there won’t be a restaurant or shop open on every corner, you’ll be able to enjoy Rincon the way the locals do, and eat at the restaurants and shop at the stores that they frequent year round! It’ll give you a much different perspective on Puerto Rican living.

Sightseeing

When you travel throughout Rincon, you’ll enjoy exploring the various sights and activities the area has to offer. Surfing opportunities abound in Rincon, with areas for beginners, seasoned pros, and everyone else in between. And, there are numerous other water activities, including snorkeling, diving, paddle boarding and fishing. For the kids, there’s the Las Cascadas Waterpark, the Mayaguez Zoo and more. And, there are many dining experiences you can enjoy within walking distance of Maria’s – experience authentic Criollo cuisine, drinks at a poolside bar, or the best burgers in town!

Rates

Typically, you can get cheaper rates on just about everything during the off-season. From flights and cab fares to prices on food and entertainment, visiting Puerto Rico during the off-season means you can enjoy everything the island has to offer, much more affordably.
